Tenancy Agreement: Understanding Your Obligations

At Birmingham Civic Housing Association, we take pride in providing secure and comfortable homes for our tenants.

Before moving into your new home, you will sign a tenancy agreement, which outlines our obligations as your landlord and your rights and responsibilities as a tenant.

Our policy is to grant assured tenancies to most of our tenants, which allows you to stay in your home as long as you abide by the terms of the agreement.

Please read through the information on these pages and keep your tenancy agreement in a safe place.

Malgorzata's Story

Malgorzata story | Birmingham Civic Housing Association

Malgorzata rented a house for 5 years from a private landlord, the property was in poor condition and not safe for her young child.

When Malgorzata was 7 months pregnant with her second child the landlord put the property up for sale, it was already on the market when she found out that she would have to find somewhere else to live.

Many people came to view the property and Malgorzata had to show them around, fortunately one of them was Helen from BCHA.

Helen decided to purchase the property and Malgorzata and her family stayed on as tenants of BCHA.

Since purchasing the property, BCHA have completed all the repairs, put in a new kitchen and bathroom and replaced the roof.

Malgorzata and her family are very happy with their home.
