The Association

We are one of the oldest housing associations in Birmingham having been established and registered with the Registrar of Friendly Societies in 1967 by Birmingham City Council.

At that time the concept of major landlords other than Local Authorities was new, the idea was that the diversification of large municipal developments would encourage private enterprise including Building Societies to become involved in housing management. It was felt that such organisations would have access to funds, to enable them to carry out property and estate improvement, which were not available to the traditional municipal landlord.

Since its inception the Association has remained small with currently 217 properties in management.  The Association’s Board of Management determined that when funds are available it will seek to purchase quality family houses to add to the existing property portfolio and when appropriate sell those properties which have in the past proved difficult to let or have high maintenance costs.

The Board similarly determined that despite our remaining a relatively small association we would always endeavour to deliver a comprehensive quality housing service placing our Customers at the centre of our operations. This has to a large extent been recognised with the receipt of a number of National Customer Service awards.  These achievements are coupled with our regularly receiving high praise for all aspects of our service delivery in Tenant Satisfaction Surveys.
